Student Volunteer Programs
We appreciate your interest in volunteer opportunities at Marcus Autism Center. Assissting our clinicians and our children at Marcus Autism Center is a rewarding experience and it is just one of the ways you can make a difference in the lives of children.
We receive numerous inquiries from college students, graduates and undergraduates, who would like to volunteer in the clinical programs at Marcus Autism Center. The same requirements apply in terms of age, health requirements and length of commitment. We often have additional opportunities available during the summer to work in our camps or other clinics.
Some of our clinicians also identify college student volunteers directly through various programs at colleges and universities in metro Atlanta. You may wish to speak to a professor at your school about these potential opportunities.
How to apply
- Review all the volunteer requirements.
- Submit an application. When submitting your application, indicate the times and dates you are available. If you are interested in summer volunteer opportunities, application should be marked: Summer College Volunteer.
Allow two to three weeks for processing applications, including a background check. When you submit your application, make sure that all required consent forms are attached. Once your application has been processed, you will be contacted if there are opportunities that match our needs and your availability.
Fax your application to 404-785-9043 or mail it to:

Please contact Sue Dale at sue.dale@choa.org with any questions you have about the requirements or application.
Due to the large number of applications and limited available opportunities, we are unable to place everyone who applies. However, we work to match your interests and availability with our needs. If we cannot place you immediately, your application will be listed as active for one year. If we identify opportunities that would be suitable for you, we will contact you.
Marcus Autism Center is open 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday to Friday. We do not have evening and weekend opportunities in our clinical programs. All volunteer opportunities are on an as-needed basis.
Course credits, internships and practicums
Contact Allison Green at Allison.Green@choa.org if you are seeking course credits for a school practicum or an internship.
High school students
We generally do not have clinical placements available for students younger than age 18. However, we welcome high school students to participate by forming a Walk for Autism team, or organize other fundraising activities with the clubs, community or their school to benefit the children of Marcus Autism Center.
