Meet Creed
Creed Campbell is hope personified. Despite being born 11 weeks early due to intrauterine growth retardation (IUGR) and weighing only 2 pounds, today, little Creed is almost all smiles. His life began the hard way when he had to spend 91
days in the neonatal intensive care unit (NICU).
He stayed in the NICU until doctors believed he was well enough to go home with his parents, Stephanie and John. Creed faced numerous challenges, including being tube-dependent and not knowing how to chew or swallow foods and liquids.
It was then that the Campbells turned to Marcus Autism Center for help. At Marcus Autism Center, Creed’s parents enrolled him in the Pediatric Feeding Disorders Program, where specialists taught him how to chew and swallow.
After Creed’s specialized eight-week program ended, he could eat and drink enough to allow for typical growth. Today, Creed has the spirited energy of any 3-year-old and loves to play with his friends. Stephanie credits the continual focus of the Marcus Autism Center staff during and after his treatment with helping Creed learn how to eat.
“They are incredible. Without the kind people at Marcus Autism Center, I don’t know what we would have done,” said Stephanie.
