Through research and clinical work done by the Severe Behavior Program, we’ve developed new and innovative ways to make behavior intervention practical for caregivers to use in daily life. We share our strategies with other clinicians who then incorporate them into their own clinical practices worldwide.
As part of our efforts, we developed a data collection system to meet the unique data collection needs of our patients and families. This helps them to better understand their child and what treatments work best. In addition, we created a crisis management system, the Marcus Crisis Prevention Program, for safe management of problem behavior. It promotes strategies that decrease reliance on restraining. We’ve developed and built a specialized space for assessing and treating elopement (running away). This is the only treatment clinic in the country that has this type of specialized treatment space.
