Seminars and caregiver workshops
As you care for your child with autism, we’re here to equip and support the whole family. Our information sessions and workshops offer specialized training and education opportunities for caregivers throughout the year.
Toddler Workshop Series
Parents will be provided with resources on how to build social communication skills and an opportunity to learn new strategies to use at home with your child. Family participation includes up to two caregivers a family, and one child under 36 months, to practice and model skills.
Stress Reduction and Social Competence for Caregivers
This eight-session clinical service aims to reduce the stress that is commonly experienced by caregivers who have a child with autism. Using CBCT® (Cognitively Based Compassion Training), a mindfulness and compassion training program developed at Emory University, caregivers will learn practical skills for self-regulation and social-regulation.
Managing Problem Behavior
This two-part workshop will help caregivers recognize the reasons behind your child’s problem behavior. We’ll then help you use this information to develop interventions. We will also provide specific recommendations you can use at home. We’ll also discuss common pitfalls caregivers encounter when dealing with problem behaviors. Participants will leave with strategies to encourage more appropriate behavior.
Toileting Workshop Series
The primary focus of this two-part workshop is urine training. Caregivers will learn several strategies to increase toileting success at home. The second session offers an opportunity to discuss successes, challenges and develop new action plans with a leading professional who has years of toilet-training experience.
Social Skills Education for Caregivers
This workshop provides education about social difficulties in children with autism spectrum disorder (ASD), as well as specific techniques parents can use in daily life to maintain social skills.
Every child deserves to feel special. That’s why we collaborate with regional organizations to offer children and their families the experience of camp. Our camps give children the chance to have fun, meet other kids and build self-confidence. We offer two summer camp options for kids with autism:
Camp You-B-You sleep-away camp is a week-long camp for children ages 8 to 16 with moderate to high-functioning autism.
Social skills day camp
Camp You-B-You day camp offers social skills building for children ages 5 to 12 with moderate to high-functioning autism.
