Marcus Autism Center Campus Improvements

Construction is underway on a new 159-space parking area on the Marcus Autism Center campus designed to better support our patients, families and staff. The additional parking will allow more patients, families and staff to park on site and reduce reliance on overflow parking located across Shepherds Lane. As part of the project, Marcus Autism Center is also completing stormwater and infrastructure improvements required by DeKalb County.

What Neighbors Can Expect

Construction activity will continue over the coming months. Some work requires temporary impacts to the sidewalk and travel lanes along Shepherds Lane. During permitted lane closures, lane-related work will be limited to 9 a.m.–3 p.m., Monday through Friday. One lane of Shepherds Lane will remain open to traffic, with traffic-control signs and flaggers used as needed to safely direct vehicles. We are working to minimize disruptions to neighbors and others traveling through the area.

Our goal is to reopen the affected sidewalk by December 1, pending DeKalb County approval. Once the new parking is available, the existing shuttle serving off-site overflow parking will no longer be needed.

Landscaping and Lighting

The project also includes new landscaping and replacement trees. New parking lot lighting will be appropriately shielded to reduce light impacts beyond the property.
