Caregiver Wellness Week

Caregiver Wellness Week will bring intentional awareness, resources, and general support to the caregivers of our Marcus Autism Center families. The week will consist of a different focus of wellness each day, encouraging and modeling an intentional focus on nurturing for the caregivers of our patients. Throughout the week, the Care Coordination team will host events and provide tangible offerings of support.

  • Mentor Monday: Caregivers will be offered 2 topic-focused educational session opportunities throughout this day: Katie Beckett/Funding in the morning session and Special Education in the afternoon sessions. Both sessions will be offered in a hybrid format: in-person and through Webex. Webex pre-registration will be required for those who cannot make it in-person.
  • Token Tuesday: Caregivers will be offered coupons for local restaurants and establishments around the Atlanta metro area. The intentional focus of this day is to simply take the financial burden off of trying something new and/or experiencing community interactions that are centered upon caregivers.
  • Wellness Wednesday: Caregivers will be offered wellness materials (nutrition and exercise information, adult coloring sheets, resources for therapists and support groups, tea, light and nutritious refreshments, and opportunities to interact with Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta facility dogs). The intentional focus of this day is the importance of finding ways to nourish and nurture yourself, when and where you can.
  • Thankful Thursday: Caregivers will be offered care packages, filled with an affirmation card and an encouraging message from a Marcus Autism Center staff member. These care packages will include body care items, gum, and Marcus Autism Center swag items. The intentional focus of this day is to simply say ‘thank you’ for the families that visit Marcus Autism Center and for showing up for their children.
  • Frame-it Friday: Caregivers and their dependents will have the opportunity to have their picture taken via Polaroid and given a frame to help preserve the photo. The intentional focus of this day is to celebrate and capture the day-to-day work that the caregivers put into the lives of their children.
